Shower Radio Product Round-Up
Some amazing ways to play music in your bathroom…so which one is the best? In a time where technology takes precedence and companies are vying for the top spot, one product has to come out on top.
The Sangean H201 offers an array of intriguing features. Sleek and stylish, marine quality water resistance, impeccable sound quality, and completely digital. Priced comparable to the other models, but lacking compact disc and MP3 ability, I feel this unit surpassed other standard radio units. As one of the more compact and attractive shower radios I have looked at, this is certainly one of my top picks.
Next is the Sony ICFS79W. While I like this unit, I am not sold on its water resistance. Even though this shower radio is compact; it seems awkward, lacking a sleek form. I was impressed with the quartz synthesized tuner, which was very accurate in seeking radio stations. Again, this unit does not feature a compact disc player or MP3 connection; however, it has an auto-off and timer feature which is beneficial when I am running late, which is usually.
Also being reviewed is the Sony ICF-CD73W AM/FM/Weather Shower CD clock radio. This unit can hold 20 station presets, auto turn-off, an alarm, digital clock, play compact discs, and even tunes in the weather. I could seriously see this being functional, especially since it is fully portable. The only negative I have found is the location of the CD door. It is on the back of the unit, which may be a hassle to change discs. I was impressed with the sound quality from such a small shower radio. I would expect nothing less from a Sony product; however, the price reflects that. I believe this to be an excellent buy.
Last, we’ll look at the Wireless Waterproof Shower Speaker with Dock Transmitter. Where has this been all of my life? Powered by a 900Mhz Phase Loop Lock circuit, similar to that of a cordless phone, a strong signal is guaranteed. The dock allows you to connect ANYTHING with a 3.5mm audio output jack. The possibilities are endless. Computer, MP3, CD, microphone…this fellow can handle it! Best yet, it requires your electronics to be nowhere near the water…as a matter of fact, up to 150 feet away! If your luck is anything like mine, and water has before caused the unfortunate demise of your electronics, this is absolutely what you need. Water aside, the amount of options this product provides is endless. This is my favorite product reviewed because of the practicality, versatility, and most importantly, the wireless feature that keeps my things dry.
Overall, the product you choose has to suit your needs. Any of these are a fine choice, and top quality buys. Whenever a purchase is being decided, consider what you’re really looking for. If you are budget conscious, a standard shower radio may be the best choice for you. If you’re technically savvy and want the latest and greatest, please consider the iHome H20W or Wireless Waterproof Shower Speaker with Dock Transmitter. I can say very honestly, none of these shower radios are a bad choice, and offer such different options that the choice is all yours.
